This is the first English translation of the book Sharh Hadeeth Maa Dhi'baan Jaai'aan... written by the great scholar Ibn Rajab al-Hanbalee (d.795H). In his book Ibn Rajab provides an explanation of the Hadeeth of the Prophet, in which he said: "Two hungry wolves let loose among sheep are not more dangerous than a person's craving after wealth and status is to his Deen." This book is a warning against the dangers of expending one's energies in chasing after the transitory things of this world at the expense of the rewards of the Hereafter. It shows the correct perspective that the believer should have of this world in comparison to the Hereafter which is especially important in this age when people's visions have become so blurred and their priorities mixed up.

Imam and Hafith Abul-Faraj ibn Rajab al-Hanbali was born in Baghdad in 736H and was raised by a pious family. He studied under many knowledgeable scholars, including Ibnul Qayyim al-Jawziyyah, Zaynul-Din al-'Iraqi, Ibn an-Naqib, and Nasirul-Din ibn al-Muluk.

Ibn Rajab devoted himself to knowledge and spent the vast majority of his time researching, writing, authoring, teaching, and giving legal rulings. Many scholars praised him for his vast knowledge, asceticism, and expertise in the Hanbali school of thought.
