This book is an effort to understand the Qur'an with a modern mind. It provides an in-depth and insightful study of Surahs al-Fatihah and al-Baqarah, with each surah being divided into several sections with study notes or reflections of different lengths.

A welcome contribution in the study of the Qur'an for the English reader. It is one of the very few Commentaries of the Qur'an which has been written in English (most other available tafsirs are translations from Arabic or Urdu).
The Author has an understanding and great respect for the Classical and other recent Commentators of the Qur'an with an added dimension of having lived and experienced the affairs facing Muslims in the World Today.
