In 1993, Foreign Affairs published an article by political scientist Samuel P Huntington, in which he pushed forward the theory of Clash of Civilizations’, arguing that civilization conflicts are particularly prevalent between Muslims and non- Muslims, and identifying what he calls the “bloody boarder” between Islamic and non-Islamic civilizations. It did not take long before the Clash of Civilizations developed into a cliché as intense discussion on it soon followed among policy makers and political scientists.
